What we learned
There were three main parts to this section which included energy and ecosystems, infectious disease and immunity. These three chapters were split up among my fellow student and we were all assigned to teach our classmates.
Energy and ecosystems
During class lectures we learn about energy and how that energy moves throughout the ecosystem. We learned that animals eat other animals and transfer this energy as the chain goes on. The energy starts to decrease as it gets transferred, some is lost in heat and waste.
Infectious disease
We also learned about some infectious diseases in this chapter. We learned about Tuberculosis, Malaria, Cholera and AIDES. We learned about how these are transmitted and how they developed. We learned about which countries these diseases spread through the most and how many people die each year from them. We went into heavy detail about how these diseases affect the human body.
Immunity
The last section of this unit was immunity. Here we learned about phagocytes and lympocytes and how they affect the human body when faced with foreign bodies. We went into heavy detail about the immune system and what it does to fight off heavy infection. We learned about vaccinations and many kinds of immunity like passive, active etc.
This was the test given to us by our fellow students on the unit for immunity. The test was made up of short answer, fill in the blank and free response (short essay) portions which carefully assessed our knowledge.
This was the vocabulary quiz which assessed our knowledge of the chapter 4 terms.
